The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced after a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The team running the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from mid-December.
