It might not have been at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
