Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
