President Trump Calls Relatives of Shot National Guard Members to the White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she planned to meet with the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
