More than 50 lone minor migrants who went missing soon after reaching the UK and while in the care of official bodies are remain unaccounted for, according to figures obtained.

Many of the unaccounted minors entered in vessels or stowed away in the backs of trucks and are presumed to have been seized by smugglers. Kent is frequently the area where they arrive.

Freedom of information information has recorded 345 children going missing from local care, with 56 of those yet to be located.
